## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: DID AN "ON SCENE" INVESTIGATION OF THIS INCIDENT AND FOUND THE AIRPLANE IN MIDDLE OF FIELD. NO DAMAGE TO AIRCRAFT WAS NOTED EXCEPT A BENT COWL FROM A CYLINDER THAT HAD SEPARATED FROM THE ENGINE. PILOT WAS NOTED FOR DOING A FINE JOB IN LANDING THE AIRCRAFT. THE LANDING WAS MADE DUE TO AN ENGINE FAILURE. THIS ENGINE HAD BEEN REBUILT JUST 500 HRS PRIOR TO THIS FAILURE. THE ENG. FAILED 300 HOURS AGO WITH THE SAME FAILURE TO THE SAME CYLINDER. THE LYCOMING REP. WILL TRY TO GET TO THE ENGINE FOR AN INSPECTION.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
