## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: AIRCRAFT BLEW R/H OUTBOARD TIRE ON LANDING. CONTRACT MAINTENANCE, MIKE ZIMMERMAN, OAS, TOWED AIRCRAFT TO PARKING AND DETERMINED AIRCRAFT R/H ENGINE FAN WOULD NOT ROTATE EITHER DIRECTION. AFTER ENGINE COOLED DOWN THE FAN WOULD ROTATE. THIS INSPECTOR RESPONDED ON 11/29/97 AT 11:00. OPERATOR CONCLUDED FAILURE OF ANTI-SKID SYSTEM CAUSED LOCKUP OF R/H MAIN WHEEL AND SUBSEQUENT TIRE WEAR AND BLOWOUT. MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR, JOHN ALWAZZI, LAX, WITH TWO ASSISTANTS WERE REPLACING DAMAGED FLAP AND MAKING TEMPORARY REPAIRS WITH ASSISTANCE FROM ONE ON SITE ENGINEER FROM SEATTLE IN PREPARATION FOR ANTICIPATED FERRY FLIGHT TO OAKLAND. DAMAGE TO UNDERWING RESULTED FROM RUBBER DEBRIS FROM R/H MAIN TIRE THAT OCCURRED DURING DISINTEGRATION OF R/H TIRE DURING ROLLOUT, WHICH ALSO INCLUDED REPLACEMENT OF HYDRAULIC COMPONENTS ATTACHED TO R/H GEAR STRUT. EVIDENCE OF RUBBER DEBRIS BEING THROWN UP TO R/H ENGINE NACELLE CONSISTED OF BLACK MARKS ON O/B SIDE OF NACELLE. MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR STATED THE AIRCRAFT ENGINE WOULD BE TEST RUN DURING PURGE OF HYDRAULICS AND TO CHECK ENGINE OPERATION PRIOR TO FERRY FLIGHT. BOTH R/H MAIN TIRES WERE REPLACED. LOG BOOK ENTRIES INCOMPLETE DURING THE WORK PHASE WHEN EXAMINED. MRR WILL BE SUBMITTED. AN AMENDED FAA FORM 8020-23 SHALL BE SUBMITTED UPON RECEIPT OF ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
