## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON FORCED LANDING DUE POWER LOSS RT WING STRUCK WIRES AND CAME TO REST IN A RESIDENTIAL YARD. RT WING SEPERATED. (-23) THE PILOT WAS ENGAGED IN LOCAL FLYING AND WAS "HEDGE HOPPING." THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED A TELEVISION CABLE (ONE INCH IN DIAMETER) SUSPENDED BETWEEN TWO HILLS (MOUNTAINOUS TERRAIN), IMPACTING THE FORWARD RIGHT LIFT STRUT AND EFFECTIVELY SEVERING THE RIGHT WING. THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED THE GROUND IN THE FRONT YARD OF A RELATIVE OF THE PILOT. SUBSEQUENT, ENGINE INSPECTION AND TESTS REVEALED A PERFECTLY FUNCTIONING ENGINE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB MIA98FA039](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/MIA98FA039), Dec 2, 1997: Christen Industries A-1 (N9613P), Lansing, NC, destroyed, 1 fatal. Probable cause: the pilot's failure to maintain clearance from a wire.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
