## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: PILOT WAS ATTEMPTING LANDING WHEN HIS NOSE WHEEL ON HIS EXPERIMENTAL AIRCRAFT TURNED 180 DEGREES WHILE BANKING THE AIRCRAFT IN FLIGHT. THE NOSE WHEEL COLLAPSED AT IMPACT BECAUSE OF THE STRUCTURAL LOAD ENFORCED ON THE GEAR. THERE WAS NO OTHER DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT OR THE PILOT. MECHANICAL INTEGRITY OF THE NOSE GEAR CONSTRUCTION IS IN QUESTION. THE BUILDER, CHARLES KYUKENDALL, WILL BE BEEFING UP THE NLG HARDWARE AND REBUILDING THE NOSEGEAR WITH A SELF CENTERING NOSE STRUT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
