## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON 12-19-97 AT 1912 LOCAL TIME, WEST AIR FLIGHT 7610 (N744FX) A CESSNA 208B OPERATING UNDER 14CFR PART 135 TAXIED OFF THE TAXIWAY AND SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE. ONE CREW MEMBER WAS ONBOARD WITH NO INJURY REPORTED. THE WEATHER WAS REPORTED AS (LAS ATCT) 0256Z, WIND 350/20G26, VISIBILITY 10, SKY CLEAR, TEMPERATURE 9C, DEWPOINT M18, ALTIMETER 30.09. AS N744FX TAXIED FROM CARGO RAMP TO TAXIWAY B2, IT ENCOUNTERED A WELL LIGHTED OVERHEAD RAMP AREA TO AN AREA OF NO FLOOD LIGHTS. TAXIWAY INTERSECTION SIGN LOCATED IN THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF INTERSECTION B/B2 WAS NOT ILLUMINATED AS REPORTED BY THE PILOT. TEMPORARY CONSTRUCTION IS IN PROGRESS AT INTERSECTION B/B2 CLOSING WEST BOUND TRAFFIC ON TAXIWAY B. PILOT REPORTED THE TEMPORARY TAXIWAY LIGHTS WERE NOT ILLUMINATED. THERE IS AN AREA OF APPROXIMATELY 300 YARDS ON THE SOUTHSIDE OF TAXIWAY B AT INTERSECTION B2 THAT IS NOT LIGHTED BY TAXIWAY EDGE LIGHTS. WEST AIR PROCEDURES ARE TO USE ONLY TAXI LIGHTS FOR GROUND OPERATIONS. AS THE AIRCRAFT APPROACHED THE B/B2 INTERSECTION, THE PILOT LOST SIGHT OF THE TAXIWAY CENTERLINE AND EXITED THE TAXIWAY AT THE SOUTHSIDE OF TAXIWAY B. AIRCRAFT CONTINUED FOR APPROXIMATELY 300 FEET AND SUSTAINED DAMAGE TO ALL THREE BLADES OF THE PROPELLER AND DAMAGE TO THE LOWER AFT FUSELAGE STRIKES. PILOT REPORTED TO LAS ATCT THAT HE HAD EXITED THE TAXIWAY AND SUSPECTED PROPELLER DAMAGE. HE ADVISED LAS ATCT TO CANCEL HIS IFR DEPARTURE CLEARANCE AND NEEDED TO RETURN TO THE CARGO RAMP AREA. THIS REPORT IS CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
