ONE PROPELLER BLADE EXHIBITED SIGNS OF ROTATION. A TACHOMETER NEEDLE IMPRINT WAS FOUND ABOUT 975 RPM. AN UNQUANTIFIED AMOUNT OF FUEL WAS PRESENT IN THE LEFT WING FUEL TANK. THE FUEL SYSTEM WAS APPROVED FOR AND OPERATING ON AUTOMOBILE GASOLINE. INTERNAL FUEL HOSE DETEORIATION WAS PRESENT OBSTRUCTING A FUEL SIGHT GAUGE VENT LINE AND COUPLING HOSES. ## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX98FA064](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX98FA064), Dec 30, 1997: Piper PA-11 (N5532H), Willow Beach, AZ, destroyed, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain control of the aircraft for undetermined reasons.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
