UNDERSHOT RUNWAY AND LANDED HARD ON SHORT FINAL DUE TO TURBULENCE. PUSHED MAIN GEARS THROUGH WINGS, CRACKED SPARS. (-23) ON JANUARY 9, 1998 ABOUT 1600 CST, A BEECH V35, N99V REGISTERED TO AND OPERATED BY BENTON DONEGAN WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED DURING A HARD LANDING ON RUNWAY 14 AT ELM CREEK AIRPARK, SEGUIN, TEXAS. MR. DONEGAN THE SOLE OCCUPANT RECEIVED MINOR INJURIES. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AND NO FLIGHT PLAN WAS FILED. MR. DONEGAN REPORTED TO ME THAT HE ENCOUNTERED TURBULENCE ON FINAL APPROACH RESULTING IN A HARD LANDING ON THE END OF THE RUNWAY. BOTH MAIN LANDING GEAR WERE PUSHED THROUGH THE WINGS AND BOTH AFT SPARS WERE CRACKED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB FTW98LA095](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/FTW98LA095), Jan 9, 1998: Beech V35 (N99V), Seguin, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain the proper descent rate.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
