## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: FROM PILOT; DEPARTED PARKLAND AT 4:15-4:30, 1/16/98 FOR PRACTICE FLIGHT. NORMAL DEPARTURE FROM COCKPIT. ON DEPARTURE, GROUND WITNESS NOTICED RIGHT HAND GEAR INBOARD GEAR DOOR REMAINED OPEN. REMAINED IN PATTERN FOR TOUCH AND GO. GEAR DOWN ON DOWNWIND, COULD NOT GET THREE IN THE GREEN. RIGHT HAND GEAR LIGHT NOT ILLUMINATED. RADIOED PERSON ON GROUND TO CHECK GEAR DOWN. SLOW PASS. NOSE AND LEFT GEAR DOWN AND LOCKED. RIGHT SIDE STILL IN THE WELL, INBOARD GEAR DOOR OPEN. PILOT CLIMBED TO 7,500 FEET AND ATTEMPTED SEVERAL EMERGENCY EXTENSIONS. NO SUCCESS. PILOT ATTEMPTED TO "HELP" GEAR DOWN BY YAWING, PITCHING AND ROLLING. NO SUCCESS. INFORMED FRIENDS ON THE GROUND HEADING FOR BROOMFIELD. INITIAL CONTACT OVER LAFAYETTE. CLEARED FOR LOW APPROACH OVER TOWER TO CHECK GEAR. APPROXIMATELY TEN MINUTES OF DAYLIGHT REMAINING. NO CHANGE IN GEAR STATUS. PILOT REQUESTED SOMEONE KNOWLEDGEABLE IN LANCAIRS ASSIST. THROUGH TOWER, ASSISTANT MADE SEVERAL SUGGESTIONS TO "HELP" GEAR DOWN BY TIMING EXTENSION WITH STEEP TURNS TO EACH SIDE. SEVERAL MORE ATTEMPTS MADE FOLLOWING THAT ADVICE. THAT FAILING, GEAR STILL STUCK, CLEARED FOR LANDING. DECIDED GEAR UP WOULD CAUSE LESS DAMAGE THAN DOWN. ENGINE SECURED ON FINAL, MASTER-OFF, FUEL-OFF. PROP WOULD NOT STOP WINDMILLING. SUCCESSFUL LANDING.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
