## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

LEFT BRAKE FAILED LANDING. RAN INTO SHALLOW DITCH. HIT PAVEMENT EDGE ON TAXIWAY. FOLDED NOSE GEAR. BRAKE LINE BROKE (.4)THE PILOT STATED THAT AFTER TOUCHDOWN THE LEFT BRAKE FAILED. EXAMINATION OF THE AIRCRAFT REVEALED THAT FLEXIBLE DUCT TUBING SHOWED EVIDENCE OF CRACKING. FURTHER EXAMINATION REVEALED THAT THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN AN INSUFFICIENT AMOUNT OF FLUID IN THE LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR BRAKE SYSTEM DUE TO A LEAK, WHICH WOULD HAVE RESTRICTED THE OPERATION OF THE LEFT BRAKE. THE PILOT REPORTED THAT PER THE AIRCRAFT LOGBOOK, THE BRAKE LINES HAD NEVER BEEN REPLACED. DOCUMENTS FROM THE MANUFACTURER STATE THE THE PRESSURIZATION SYSTEM MUST BE INSPECTED EVERY 200 HOURS OR EVERY YEAR FOR PLUMBING CONDITION, SECURITY, AND LOOSE CONNECTIONS. THE BRAKE SYSTEM, PER THE MANUFACTURER, MUST ALSO BE INSPECTED EVERY 200 HOURS OR EVERY YEAR FOR LEAKS, HOSES FOR BULGES, AND DETERIORATION. THE LAST ANNUAL MAINTENANCE PERFORMED INCLUDED AN INSPECTION OF THE BRAKE LINES WITHOUT REMOVAL OF THE STRUCTURAL SHEET METAL THAT OVERLIES THE PRESSURIZATION SYSTEM. (-23) FAILURE OF LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR BRAKE SYSTEM.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX98LA081](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX98LA081), Jan 23, 1998: Cessna 340A (N41NR), Groveland, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: Failure of the brake line as a result of inadequate maintenance.

## Other reports on N41NR (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
