NARRATIVE: ON JANUARY 28, 1998 AT 15:40 MST, A HUGHES OH-6A, N17WW, REGISTERED TO THE US BORDER PATROL, EXPERIENCED A HARD LANDING AT WEST TEXAS AIRPORT, EL PASO, TEXAS WHILE PERFORMING AN AUTOROTATION DURING A TRAINING FLIGHT. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AT THE TIME AND NO FLIGHT PLAN HAD BEEN FILED. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE AND NEITHER OF THE TWO CERTIFICATED PILOTS ON BOARD WERE INJURED. THE FLIGHT HAD ORIGINATED AT EL PASO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT APPROXIMATELY 1.6 HOURS PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
