## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: IAL38030398; WHILE SETTING LONG-LINE EXTERNAL LOAD DOWN AMONGST WOODED AREA, THE PILOT SITTING ON THE LEFT SEAT LOOKING OUT THE BUBBLE DOOR DID NOT NOTICE TALLER TREE TO HIS RIGHT AND CUT OFF TWO FEET FROM THE TOP OF A SPRUCE TREE. THE PILOT FELT A VIBRATION AFTER THE TREE STRIKE AND SUBSEQUENTLY SET THE LOAD DOWN IN A NEARBY CLEARING AND LANDED THE HELICOPTER. BONDING SEPARATION WAS EXPERIENCED ON FOUR OF THE FIVE BLADES. SUDDEN STOPPAGE CRITERIA FROM MANUFACTURER WAS USED, RESULTING IN REPLACEMENT OF ALL MAIN ROTOR BLADES, TAIL ROTOR DRIVE SHAFT AND GEAR BOX ENGINE, AND FULL INSPECTION OF MAIN ROTOR HUB.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
