## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON FEBRUARY 21, 1998, AT 1715 PST, A BELL HELICOPTER MODEL 204B, SERIAL NUMBER 2019, N204SH, MADE A PRECAUTIONARY LANDING. THE LOCATION WAS IN THE OPEN DESERT THREE AND A HALF MILES NORTH OF I-40 AND 12 MILES EAST OF BARSTOW, CA. THE LANDING WAS INITIATED BY THE PILOT BECAUSE OF TWO ENGINE FIRE WARNING LIGHTS, AFTER LANDING THE AIRCRAFT CAUGHT FIRE. INVESTIGATION OF CAUSE OF FIRE WARNING LIGHT COULD NOT BE CONDUCTED DUE TO POST LANDING FIRE. THIS WAS CONSIDERED AN INCIDENT BY NTSB.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
