## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: NOSE WHEEL STEERING WAS BEING TESTED DURING TAXI OUT AND WHEN LEFT TURN WAS TESTED SYSTEM DID NOT REENGAGE WHEN SWITCH WAS RELEASED. THE NOSE WHEEL AND BOTH MAIN WHEELS LEFT THE TAXIWAY WITH THE MAINS BURIED IN THE MUD. THERE WERE TWO PASSENGERS ON BOARD AND NO INJURIES. THE AIRCRAFT WAS RECOVERED TO A LOCAL MAINTENANCE FACILITY AND CLEANED AND NO DAMAGE WAS FOUND. THE MAINTENANCE FACILITY RAN A TEST ON THE NOSE WHEEL STEERING AND IT WAS FOUND TO OPERATE NORMALLY. ALTHOUGH THE MAINTENANCE FACILITY THAT CHECKED THE AIRCRAFT AFTER THE MISHAP WAS NOT TRAINED BY THE CARRIER AND NOT FAMILIAR WITH THEIR OPERATIONS THEY DID ENTER THE RESULTS OF THE CHECK IN THE AIRCRAFT LOGS. THE AIRCRAFT LATER DEPARTED BPT FOR AUS. NO PASSENGERS ONBOARD THE FLIGHT WHEN IT DEPARTED FOR AUS. THIS INCIDENT HAS BEEN REFERRED TO THE CARRIERS' POI/PMI.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
