HE DID NOT HEAR THE LANDING GEAR WARNING HORN WITH HIS HEAD SET ON. (-23)WHILE MAKING TOUCH AND GO LANDINGS AT BJC, ^PRIVACY DATA O^ PASSENGER BECAME ILL AND NEEDED A SICK SACK. ^PRIVACY DATA^ ALLOWED HIMSELF TO BECOME DISTRACTED, AND NEGLECTED TO PUT THE GEAR IN THE DOWN POSITION, RESULTED IN A GEAR-UP LANDING AND RESULTANT SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO HIS AIRCRAFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB FTW98LA142](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/FTW98LA142), Mar 6, 1998: Mooney M20C (N5653Q), Broomfield, CO, substantial damage. Probable cause: failure of the pilot to extend the landing gear before landing. A factor relating to the accident was: his attention being diverted, when his daughter got air sick.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
