## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

CFI WITH 2 HOURS OF BE-35 EXPERIENCE WAS EMPLOYED TO CONDUCT INSURANCE REQUIRED CHECKOUT OF THE NEW OWNER OF N102L. THE THIRD LANDING AT RUTHHERFORDTON COUNTY AIRPORT(FQD) WAS WITH LANDING GEAR RETRACTED. THE UNDERSIDE OF FUSELAGE, ENGINE COWL AN PROPELLER WERE DAMAGED AS THE AIRPLANE SKIDDED TO A STOP ON THE ASPALT RUNWAY. THE CFI SAID THAT THE PILOT INSTRUCTED VERBALIZED THE CKECKLIST SAYING "LANDING GEAR" AND "DOWN", BUT THERE WAS NOT A LANDING GEAR DOWN LIGHT ILLUMINATED, AND HE HAD NOT PLACED THE LANDING GEAR SWITCH TO THE DOWN POSITION. HER FEELING WAS THAT AFTER TWO HOURS OF ROUTINE LANDINGS THEY BOTH HAD BECOME A BIT COMPLACENT. AFTER DISSCUSION OF NTSB RULE PART 830.5 (IMMEDIATE NOTIFICATION) THE CREW AND THOSE AT THE SITE OF THE MISHAP DECIDED THAT THERE WAS NO NEED TO NOTIFY FAA PERSONNEL AND THE AIRCFRAFT WAS MOVED FROM THE RUNWAY. IT EVENTUALLY CAME TO FAA ATTENTION AFTER DISCUSSIONS WITH THE FSDO SPM AT A SAFETY MEETING. THE A&P MECHANIC THAT COMPLETED THE AIRPLANE RESTORATION AND RETURNED IT TO SERVICE SAID THAT THE TROTTLE POSITION SENSOR INTENDED TO SOUND A WARNING A LOW MANIFOLD PRESSURE SETTINGS WAS ADJUSTED TOO LOW, AND PROBALLY DID NOT SOUND DURING A GEAR UP, FLAPS DOWN APPROACH.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
