## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

SOLO CROSS COUNTRY. LOST CONTROL LANDING IN CROSSWIND. EXITED RUNWAY INTO ADITCH. (-23) STUDENT PILOT ATTEMPTED TO LAND WITH CROSSWIND CONDITIONS. LOST DIRECTIONAL CONTROL ON ROLLOUT, LEFT THE RUNWAY HARD SURFACE AND CONTACTED A DITCH BETWEEN THE RUNWAY AND TAXIWAY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ATL98LA058](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ATL98LA058), Mar 15, 1998: Cessna 152 (N49551), La Belle, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: the student pilot's inadequate compensation for wind conditions and failure to maintain directional control of the airplane. The gusty crosswind condition was a related factor.

## Other reports on N49551 (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19830215011399I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19830215011399I), Feb 15, 1983: Cessna 152 (N49551), Meriden, CT, Minor damage. Student pilot lost control on rollout. Veered off runway. Struck a snowbank. Instructor pilot on board.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
