## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: PILOT STATED THAT HE LOWERED THE LANDING GEAR AND HAD A GEAR DOWN LIGHT ON DOWNWIND. HE WAS DISTRACTED FROM MAKING FINAL GEAR CHECK. TOUCHDOWN WAS VERY SMOOTH, THEN HE JUST SETTLED INTO THE GROUND. GEAR SWITCH WAS IN THE DOWN POSITION. INVESTIGATION OF AIRCRAFT SHOWS INDICATIONS THAT THE LANDING GEAR WAS EXTENDED TOO LATE IN THE LANDING SEQUENCE AND DID NOT HAVE TIME TO FULLY EXTEND. WHEN AIRCRAFT WAS PLACED ON JACKS DURING RECOVERY THE MAIN GEAR EXTENDED NORMALLY AND LOCKED. THERE IS NO EVIDENCE TO INDICATE THAT THE MAIN GEAR HAD BEEN EXTENDED AND RETRACTED ON THE RUNWAY. LANDING GEAR MOTOR WORM ACTUATING SCREW WAS BROKEN, INDICATING THAT IT WAS EXTENDED WITH THE AIRCRAFT WEIGHT ON THE SYSTEM. THIS IS THE REASON THE NOSE GEAR HAD TO BE PULLED OUT OF THE WHEEL WELL.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
