## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

BOUNCED LANDING. BEGAN GO AROUND TO SLOW. LOST CONTROL. INDICATES A WING STALLED ON PREMATURE LIFT OFF. (.4)THE PILOT WAS PRACTICING TOUCH-AND-GO LANDINGS IN A CROSSWIND. ON THE SECOND LANDING, THE AIRPLANE DEVELOPED AN EXCESSIVE SINK RATE ON FINAL, HIT HARD AND BOUNCED INTO THE AIR. THE PILOT ADDED FULL POWER TO GO AROUND BUT DID NOT REACH FLYING SPEED. THE AIRPLANE DRIFTED OFF TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY AND IMPACTED THE TERRAIN. (-23)LOST DIREDTIONAL CONTROL DURING A GO-AROUND INITIATED AFTER BOUNCED DURING PRACTICE CROSSWIND LANDING.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

- [NTSB SEA98LA049](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA98LA049), Mar 23, 1998: Cessna 177A (N177MT), Laurel, MT, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's excessive descent rate on final, and improper recovery from a bounced landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
