## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ACFT RAN THROUGH A MUD HOLE ON LANDING AND FLIPPED OVER, TUCKERMAN, AR. (.4)DURING THE LANDING ROLL, THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR DROPPED INTO A MUD HOLE COVERED BY 6 INCH TALL BERMUDA GRASS. THE TIRE PUSHED UP THE MUD INSTEAD OF ROLLING THROUGH THE HOLE, AND THE AIRPLANE CAME TO A SUDDEN STOP AND NOSED OVER TO THE INVERTED POSITION. (-23) ON MARCH 25, 1998, AT 0900 CST, N6720K, A GRUMMAN G-164B, OPERATED BY TUCKERMAN FLYING SERVICE (CFR 49 PART 137 AG OPERATOR, CERTIFICATE NO. THE PILOT STATED THAT THE AIRCRAFT FLIPPED INVERTED WHEN THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR SUNK INTO A SOFT SPOT ON THE RUNWAY. HE SAID HE HAD LANDED ON THE STRIP 4 OR 5 TIMES ALREADY THAT MORNING. THE STRIP WAS COVERED WITH GRASS AND THE SOFT SPOT WAS NOT EASILY DETECTED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND NO FIRE. THE VERTICAL STABILIZER, RUDDER, LEFT AND RIGHT UPPER WING PANELS, MAIN AND CABANE STRUTS WERE DAMAGED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB FTW98LA164](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/FTW98LA164), Mar 25, 1998: Grumman-Schweizer G-164B (N6720K), Tuckerman, AR, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain aircraft control. Factors were the wet and soft runway conditions.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
