## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

FLEW INTO A RAVINE. UNABLE OUT CLIMB TERRAIN. REVERSED COURSE SLOW AIRSPEED. STALLED. NOSED OVER GROUND IMPACT. (-23) PILOT STATED THAT HE LEFT FAIRBANKS, ALASKA WITH TWO PASSENGERS AND WAS LOOKING FOR BEAR DENS OVER THE DENALI HIWAY. HE TURNED UP A RAVINE APPROXIMATELY .5 MILES SOUTH OF TANGLE LAKES LODGE AND NOTICING A RISE IN TERRAIN MADE A LEFT TURN CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO STALL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC98LA031](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC98LA031), Mar 25, 1998: Cessna 172A (N7339T), Paxson, AK, destroyed. Probable cause: The pilots failure to maintain terrain clearance while flying into a box canyon, and an inadvertent stall during his attempt to reverse direction.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
