## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

FIRE PATROL FLIGHT. TOO MUCH CROSSWIND TO LAND. BEGAN GO AROUND WHEEL HIT FFENCE TOP. WING HIT BRUSH. SPAR DAMAGE. (-23) ON LANDING AT HOME STRIP, AN UNEVEN 1800' X 100' GRASS RUNWAY, THE AIRCRAFT WAS CAUGHT BY A GUST OF WIND FROM THE LEFT AS IT TOUCHED DOWN ONE THIRD OF THE WAY DOWN THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT BOUNCED AND DRIFTED RIGHT TOWARD THE EDGE OF THE STRIP, WHICH WAS BORDERED BY A FOUR-FOOT BARBED WIRE FENCE. POWER WAS APPLIED FOR A GO-AROUND, BUT THE RIGHT GEAR CAUGHT THE TOP STRAND OF THE FENCE. THIS RETARDED THE CLIMB PERFORMANCE AND TURNED THE AIRCRAFT TOWARD A NINE-FOOT TALL BRUSH PILE LOCATED JUST OUTSIDE OF THE FENCE APPROXIMATELY HALF WAY DOWN THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK THE BRUSH PILE, THEN THE GROUND BEYOND.
