## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

NARRATIVE: ON TUESDAY, APRIL 7, 1998, AT 1733, A CESSNA 177RG, N2050Q, LANDED AT SYRACUSE HANCOCK INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT WITH THE NOSE GEAR IN THE UP POSITION. THE PILOT HAD DECLARED AN EMERGENCY WHEN THE NOSE GEAR WOULD NOT CYCLE TO THE DOWN AND LOCKED POSITION. THE HAND PUMP DID NOT RESULT IN THE NOSE GEAR EXTENSION. THE PILOT SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE AT THE THRESHOLD AND NO PROPELLER OR ENGINE DAMAGE OCCURRED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO THE PILOT, WHO WAS THE SOLE OCCUPANT. THERE WAS MINOR DAMAGE TO THE MUFFLER AND NOSE GEAR DOORS. MAINTENANCE FOUND THE AFT NOSE GEAR DOOR INTERCONNECT BAR INTERFERING WITH UPLOCK FORK ON THE DOWN TRAVEL. MAINTENANCE RE-RIGGED THE ENTIRE LANDING GEAR SYSTEM. THE TRANSPONDER WAS FOUND TO BE OUT OF CERTIFICATION. THE OWNER WAS INFORMED AND THE TRANSPONDER WILL BE RECERTIFIED BY UNITED RADIO. THIS INCIDENT IS CONSIDERED CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
