## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON 4/16/98 AT 1030 CST, A AMATEUR BUILT AIRCRAFT, N8072U, MODEL RANS 160F16, OPERATED BY RANDY J. SCHLITTER, LOST EXPERIMENTAL WOOD PROPELLER, DURING CRUISE, AT 5000 FEET MSL. THE COMMERCIAL PILOT MADE AN EMERGENCY LANDING IN FIELD IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO THE BOONEVILLE MUNICIPAL AIRPORT, THE AIRCRAFT LANDING WITHOUT INCIDENT. NO INJURIES, NO PASSENGERS ON BOARD. THE PROBABLE CAUSE WAS HARMONIC VIBRATION BETWEEEN PROPELLER AND CRANKCASE FLANGE. THIS EXPERIMENTAL PROPELLER WAS UNDER FLIGHT TESTING WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED AND REPLACED WITH DIFFERENT TYPE WOOD PROPELLER.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
