## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR COLLAPSED WHILE TAXIING TO PARK. LEFT BELLCRANK ASSESMBLY BROKE. (.4)AFTER LANDING, THE PILOT TURNED THE AIRPLANE AROUND AND BACK TAXIED TOWARDS THE RAMP. AS HE EXITED THE RUNWAY, THE LEFT LANDING GEAR COLLAPSED. POSTACCIDENT INSPECTION REVEALED THAT THE LEFT LANDING GEAR BELLCRANK ASSEMBLY SUSTAINED A STRESS OVERLOAD, CAUSING THE ASSEMBLY TO BREAK AND SHEAR BOTH ASSEMBLY BOLTS. THE GEAR RETRACT ARM WAS ALSO FOUND BROKEN. WHEN THE GEAR COLLAPSED, THE LEFT WING AND LEFT HORIZONTAL STABILIZER STRUCK THE GROUND AND WERE SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED. (-23)LEFT MAIN GEAR COLLAPSED WHILE TAXING TO PARKING.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB FTW98LA201](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/FTW98LA201), May 1, 1998: Cessna 320D (N3316Q), Greybull, WY, substantial damage. Probable cause: Stress overload failure of the bellcrank assembly of the left landing gear.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
