## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JUNE 10, 1998, AT 2117Z, A LEAR 55 AIRACRAFT N700JE, EXPERIENCED A GENERATOR FAILURE AFTER DEPARTURE FROM ADDISON (ADS), TEXAS WHILE MANEUVERING THROUGH THUNDERSTORMS. THE FLIGHT CONTINUED TO CLEAR THE STORMS. THE REMAINING GENERATOR STARTED TO SPIKE INTERMITTENTLY TO 275 AMPS AND THE PILOTS DECLARED A PRECAUTIONARY EMERGENCY AND DIVERTED TO ALEXANDRIA INTERNATIONAL (AEX) WHERE AN UNEVENTFUL LANDING WAS ACCOMPLISHED. SUBSEQUENT INVESTIGATION REVEALED GENERATOR, PART NO 6608201-9, SERIAL NO 2456, HAD DISINTREGATED INTERNALLY AND THE GNS FILTER HAD SHORTED. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AT THE TIME, ALTHOUGH THE AIRCRAFT WAS ON AN IFR FLIGHT PLAN. THE TOW AIRLINE TRANSPORT RATED PILOTS AND THE TWO PASSENGERS WERE NOT INJURIED. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED DAMAGE TO ITS PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED COMPONETS, WHICH WERE REPLACED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
