## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ENGINE LOST POWER ENROUTE. FLOAT EQUIPPED 185 LANDED IN MUD SHORT OF LAKE HOOD. NOSED OVER. NO ANOMALIES FOUND. (.4)THE ENGINE SUSTAINED A TOTAL LOSS OF POWER WHILE IN CRUISE FLIGHT ABOUT 800 FEET MSL. DURING THE FORCED LANDING ON MUD FLATS, THE FLOAT EQUIPPED AIRPLANE FLIPPED OVER. POSTACCIDENT INVESTIGATION REVEALED THE PRESENCE OF FUEL IN ALL LINES, AND NO MECHANICAL DEFECTS WITH THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE OPERATED NORMALLY WHEN TESTED ON THE AIRFRAME. THE FUEL SYSTEM WAS PRESSURE TESTED, AND THEN THE FLEXIBLE FUEL LINES WERE CUT OPEN FOR INSPECTION; THESE TESTS REVEALED NO DISCREPANCIES. NO ANOMALIES WHICH WOULD PREVENT THE ENGINE FROM OPERATING WERE FOUND. (-23) AIRCRAFT WAS CRUISING AT ABOUT 800' WHEN ENGINE LOST POWER. LANDED IN APPROXIMATELY 1/2" OF WATER ON MUD FLATS. AIRCRAFT TURNED OVER AND CAME TO REST RIGHT SIDE UP.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
