## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

- [NTSB LAX98FA199](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX98FA199), Jun 16, 1998: Mooney M20R (N130RB), Van Nuys, CA, destroyed, 2 fatal. Probable cause: the non-instrument rated pilot's intentional VFR flight into instrument meteorological conditions. Factors were the low ceiling, drizzle, and fog.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
