## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ACFT LANDED, WENT THROUGH A WOODEN FENCE, AND CAME TO REST IN A RESIDENTS SWIMMING POOL, COLLLINSVILLE, OK. (.4) DURING THE LANDING ROLL ON A GRASS RUNWAY, THE STUDENT PILOT WAS DISTRACTED BY AN AIR FORCE BOEING 707 FLYING OVERHEAD. WHEN THE PILOT LOOKED BACK TO WHERE HE WAS GOING, HE SAW THAT THE AIRPLANE WAS `TOO CLOSE' TO THE AIRPORT PROPERTY LINE. HE APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE `AIRCRAFT STARTED TO MOVE TO THE RIGHT.' HE NOTICED THAT HE WAS HEADING FOR A BIRDHOUSE AND `FIREWALLED' THE THROTTLE AND TRIED TO TURN THE AIRPLANE; HOWEVER, THE AIRPLANE CONTINUED ON A `STRAIGHT LINE GOING TOWARD THE BIRDHOUSE.' THE AIRPLANE HIT THE BIRDHOUSE, WENT THROUGH A FENCE, AND CAME TO A STOP IN A RESIDENTIAL SWIMMING POOL. (-23) AFTER LANDING AND DURING ROLL-OUT PILOT DIVERTED ATTENTION TO A NON-CONFLICTING AIRCRAFT. UPON RETURNING ATTENTION TO HIS AIRCRAFT HE NOTED THAT HE WAS HEADING TOWARD PERSONAL RESIDENCES ADJACENT TO RUNWAY. HE THEN ADDED POWER IN THE BELIEF THAT HE WOULD TURN. THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED OFF COURSE, WENT THROUGH A BIRDHOUSE AND FENCE ENDING UP IN A PROPERTY OWNER'S SWIMMING POOL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB FTW98LA271](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/FTW98LA271), Jun 16, 1998: Cessna 150C (N7914Z), Collinsville, OK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during landing roll. A factor was the pilot's diverted attention.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
