## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE FLYING DOWN THE COLORADO RIVER AT A LOW ALTITUDE, PILOT DID NOT SEE ELECTRICAL WIRES THAT SPANNED THE RIVER AND DID NOT SEE THE RETAINING STRUCTURES ON THE BANKS OF THE RIVER.SUBSEQUENTLY STRIKING THE ELECTRICAL CABLE AND DOING DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT. UPON LANDING AT PARKER AIRPORT, AZ THE NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED. PILOTS NARRATIVE: IN RESPONSE TO YOUR REQUEST FOR A MORE DETAILED EXPLANATION OF THE ACCIDENT ON 6/21/98. WHILE IN LOW LEVEL CRUISE NORTH OF PARKER, AZ, I SAW POWERLINES AHEAD OF ME. AT FIRST I STARTED TO PULL UP. I BECAME CONCERNED THAT I MIGHT HIT THE TOP LINE AT SLOW SPEED. I SAW NO POWERLINE LOWER SO I OPTED TO GO DOWN AS LOW AS I COULD. AS I PASSED UNDER I HEARD A POP. I CLIMBED OUT AND LOOKED FOR DAMAGE BUT COULD NOT FIND NONE. THE RADIO DID NOT APPEAR TO BE WORKING. I WENT TO PARKER AND MADE A NORMAL APPROACH FOR A PRECAUTIONARY LANDING. ON LANDING THE NOSE WHEEL COLLAPSED AND I LANDED SAFELY, STAYING ON THE RUNWAY. WE REMOVED THE PLANE FROM THE RUNWAY TO THE PARKING AREA.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
