## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-5)MR. NYBOER PILOT IN COMMAND OF N87AD, A BEECH 35-H35, ON AN IFR FLIGHT PLAN FROM LACROSSE, WISCONSIN TO CUSTER, SOUTH DAKOTA EXPERIENCED A GRADUAL LOSS OF RADIO COMMUNICATIONS WHICH SUBSEQUENTLY ESCALATED TO A FULL ELECTRICAL FAILURE. IN A WRITTEN STATEMANT MR. NYBOER STATED THAT HE SECURED THE POWER TO ALL AVIONICS EQUIPMENT, AND ELECTED TO LAND AT PIERRE MUNICIPAL AIRPORT. BECAUSE OF THE ELECTRICAL FAILURE HE WAS UNABLE TO LOWER THE LANDING GEAR NORMALLY AND LOWERED THE GEAR MANUALLY WITH THE HAND CRANK. BECAUSE THERE WAS NO ELECTRICAL POWER THE GEAR DOWN INDICATING LIGHT DID NOT LIGHT AND THE GEAR WARNING HORN DID NOT SOUND. TO CHECK THE GEAR DOWN POSITION, HE HAD TO RELY ON THE MECHANICAL GEAR POSITION POINTER. THE POINTER INDICATED THAT THE GEAR WAS IN THE DOWN POSITION. THE PILOT SET UP AND APPROCAH TO RUNWAY 13 WITHOUT FLAPS (NO POWER) IMMEDIATELY AFTER LANDING THE LANDING GEAR COLLAPSED. MR. NYBOER WAS THE SOLE OCCUPANT OF THE AIRCRAFT AND WAS NOT INJURED. THE AIRCRAFT SUFFERED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE LANDING GEAR AND PROPELLER, HOWEVER THERE WAS NO STRUCTURAL DAMAGE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
