## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(.4)THE AIRPLANE'S RIGHT WING CONTACTED A WIRE DURING AN AERIAL APPLICATION FLIGHT NEAR MART, TAXAS. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE WAS MAKING THE FINAL PASS IN A FIELD HE WAS SPRAYING. HE WAS FLYING THE AIRPLANE ADJACENT TO A "CENTER PIVOT SPRINKLER" AND ADJUSTED THE FLIGHT PATH OF THE AIRPLANE TO REMAN CLEAR OF THE SPRINKLER. THE AIRPLANE CLEARED THE SPRINKLER AND WAS DEPARTING THE FIELD AT THE WESTERN EDGE WHEN THE PILOT NOTICED WIRES. THE RIGHT WING TIP OF THE AIRPLANE CONTACED THE LOWER WIRE AND CONTINUED FLYING. THE PILOT FLEW THE AIRPLANE TO THE HORAN AIRPORT, PLAINVIEW, TEXAS, WHERE IT LANDED WITHOUT FUTHER INCIDENT. (-23) PILOT REPORTED THAT HE WAS SPRAYING AREAS OF THE FIELD THAT HE MISSED AND ON HIS LAST PASS OF TOUCH-UP, DEPARTING THE FIELD, HE STRUCK THE RIGHT WING TIP ON A POWER WIRE. APPROXIMATELY 21-22 INCHES OF THE RIGHT WING TIP WAS TORN OFF AT THE FACTORY SPAR SPLICE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB FTW98LA304](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/FTW98LA304), Jul 8, 1998: Air Tractor AT-301 (N2325G), Plainview, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain obstacle clearance during the aerial application flight. A factor was the transmission wire.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
