## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

LOST POWER ON LIFTOFF. DUMPED LOAD LANDED POTATO FIELD. NOSED OVER. THROTTLE CONNECTOR WORN OUT FAILED. (.4)THE PILOT REPORTED THAT WHILE TAKING OFF TO THE WEST AND CLIMBING THROUGH ABOUT 40 FEET ABOVE GROUND, THE ENGINE WENT TO IDLE. HE STATED THAT HE DROPPED HIS CHEMICAL LOAD AND IMMEDIATELY LANDED IN AN OPEN POTATO FIELD. THE LANDING ROLL WAS CROSSWISE TO THE FURROWS AND THE AIRCRAFT ULTIMATELY NOSED OVER. FAA ON-SITE INSPECTION REVEALED A DISCONNECT OF THE THROTTLE LINKAGE JUST FORWARD OF THE FIREWALL WHERE IT ATTACHES TO A 90 DEGREE BELL-CRANK DESIGNED TO TRANSLATE FORWARD/AFT MOTION INTO LEFT/RIGHT LATERAL MOTION. THE THREADS ON THE BELL-CRANK ATTACH END OF THE LONGITUDINAL THROTTLE TUBE WERE FOUND TO BE HEAVILY WORN. (-23)AIRCRAFT LOST POWER ON TAKE-OFF, DUMPED LOAD, AND LANDED STRAIGHT AHEAD I POTATO FIELD. THE AIRCRAFT NOSED OVER AND CAME TO REST ON ITS TOP. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED GOING ACROSS THE POTATO ROWS INSTEAD OF PARALLEL TO THEM CONTRIBUTING TO THE NOSING OVER. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED DAMAGE TO THE FIN, THE TOP OF THE CABIN, A BENT PROPELLER BLADE, AND DAMAGE ENGINE ISOLATION MOUNTS. THE PILOT EXITED THE AIRCRAFT ONCE IT CAME TO REST. THERE WERE NO INJURIES OR FIRES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
