## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE MANEUVERING TO LAND AT ARLINGTON MUNICIPAL AIRPORT AFTER A LOCALFLIGHT, THE ENGINE QUIT VERY ABRUPTLY. REALIZING HE COULD NOT GLIDE TO RUNWAY 16, THE PILOT MADE A FORCED LANDING INTO A GRASS FIELD, ABOUT ONE MILE NORTH OF THE THRESHOLD. NO INJURIES, BUT SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.Y

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA98LA130](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA98LA130), Jul 11, 1998: Person Vari EZE (N29NS), Arlington, WA, substantial damage. Probable cause: A lack of adequate carburetor heat available and overload of the main landing gear. Contributing factors were carburetor icing conditions and soft terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
