## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE AT THE KAHULUI HELIPORT, OBSERVED AIRCRAFT LANDING WITH LEFT ENGINE COWLING FLAPPING IN THE WIND. AFTER ENGINE SHUT DOWN, FOUND ENGINE COWLING FORWARD LATCHING MECHANISM TORN COMPLETELY OFF, INCLUDING PART OF THE ENGINE COWLING DOOR SKIN. ALSO, THE REAR LATCHING MECHANISM BROKEN. NOTED THAT THE UNDERSIDE OF ALL 3 MAIN ROTOR BLADES SCORED. DAMAGE ON THE MAIN ROTOR BLADES WERE CAUSED BY ENGINE COWLING LATCHING MECHANISM HITTING THE UNDERSIDE OF ALL 3 MAIN ROTOR BLADES. ROTOR BLADES WERE DETERMINED FIELD REPAIRABLE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
