## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON 18 JULY AT APPROXIMATELY 10:30 A, EST, A CESSNA 150H, N2047, ENROUTE FROM LA PORTE, IN (PPO) TO INDIANAPOLIS, IN, EAGLE CREEK AIRPARK (EYE) AT 2700 FEET EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF ENGINE OIL PRESSURE DURING CRUISE FLIGHT. THE PILOT IMMEDIATELY SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE AND EXECUTED AN EMERGENCY LANDING TO A GRAVEL ROAD. UPON TOUCHDOWN, THE PILOT NOTICED A PICKUP TRUCK APROACHING THE AIRCRAFT FROM THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION, WHICH CAUSED THE PILOT TO SWERVE INTO A CORNFIELD TO AVOID HITTING THE ONCOMING VEHICLE. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE WHEN IT IMPACTED THE CORN. VFR WEATHER CONDITIONS EXISTED AT THE TIME AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES FROM THE ACCIDENT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI98LA263](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI98LA263), Jul 18, 1998: Cessna 150H (N22047), Frankfort, IN, substantial damage. Probable cause: the improper maintenance installation by other maintenance personnel. Factors were a missing lubricating oil drain plug, the safety wire for the plug and the roadway.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
