## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING LANDING ROLLOUT, ACFT LOST CONTROL AND GROUND LOOPED RESULTING IN SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT WING. (-23) ON JULY 27, 1998, AT 1600 C/T, A ROCKWELL S-2R, N8522V, REGISTERED TO MID CONTINENT AIRCRAFT CORPORATION, UPON ROLL-OUT, HAD GROUND LOOPED AT TERRY COUNTY AIRPORT. THE PILOT CLAIMED THE AIRCRAFT DRIFTED TOWARD THE LEFT AND HE ATTEMPTED TO CORRECT WITH RIGHT RUDDER THEN RIGHT BRAKE. THE PILOT STATED THAT THE RIGHT BRAKE WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE TANK WITH NO EFFECT. NO OTHER CORRECTIVE ACTION WAS TAKEN BY THE PILOT. THE PILOT STATED, "I WONDER IF I SHOULD HAVE APPLIED POWER FOR A GO-AROUND." UPON INSPECTION OF THE AIRCRAFT, AN FAA INSPECTOR AND A MECHANIC CHECKED THE BRAKES AND DETERMINED THAT BRAKE PRESSURE WAS STILL AVAILABLE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB FTW98LA337](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/FTW98LA337), Jul 27, 1998: Rockwell S2R (N8522V), Brownfield, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain control of the aircraft during the landing roll. A factor was the pilot's lack of experience in the aircraft.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
