## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON AUGUST 2, 1998, A PIPER CHEROKEE, PA-28-160, N5221W, OWNED AND OPERATED BY MR. GERALD N. MASUCCI, LANDED AT WILLIAMSON-SODUS AIRPORT ON RUNWAY 28. HE THEN LOST CONTROL OF HIS AIRCRAFT IN AN 8 TO 10 KNOT CROSSWIND RESULTING IN THE AIRCRAFT'S DEPARTURE FROM THE RUNWAY AND INTO A DITCH. THERE WAS MINOR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND NO PERSONNEL WERE INJURED. THE INCIDENT IS CONSIDERED CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
