## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-5)ON FRIDAY, AUGUST 7, 1998 DURING CLIMB OUT FROM BUFFALO NIAGARA AIRPORT, A CONTINENTAL EXPRESS EMB-120ER, N16731, EXPERIENCED THE LEFT HAND ENGINE BLEED DUCT OVERHEAT LIGHT ILLUMINATING. NO POWER WAS LOST. THE CREW USED A CHECK LIST FOR DUCT OVERHEAT TO NO AVAIL. PRECAUTIONARY SHUT DOWN OF THE LEFT HAND ENGINE WAS ACCOMPLISHED AND THE PLANE RETURNED TO BUF WITH A NORMAL LANDING. MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL INSPECTED THE ENGINE BLEED AIR DUCT SYSTEM FROM THE LEFT HAND ENGINE TO THE LEFT HAND PACK. THEY REPOSITIONED THE DUCT LEAK SENSOR LEAD, CLEANED THE LEAK SENSOR AT INBOARD LEADING EDGE, INSPECTED LEFT HAND DEICE BLEED AND SYSTEM, PERFORMED AN OPS CHECK IN ACCORDANCE WITH EMB-120 MAINTENANCE MANUAL 36 20-00. NO DEFECTS WERE NOTED AT THIS TIME. THIS INCIDENT IS CONSIDERED CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
