## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON AUGUST 08,1998 AT APPROXIMATELY 0830, A PA-31-350 (N3580X) OPERATED BY UNION FLIGHTS (UNIA) WAS INVOLVED IN A SINGLE AIRCRAFT INCIDENT AT KNEELAND, CA AIRPORT(O19). TWO (2) OCCUPANTS WERE ON BOARD THE AIRCRAFT, THE PILOT MR. WILLIAM MARCUM AN EMPLOYEE OF UNION FLIGHTS AND MR. JOHN TOLER A PASSENGER. THE INCIDENT OCCURRED DURING LANDING, SUSTAINING MINOR DAMAGE TO AIRCRAFT, WITH NO REPORTED INJURIES OR AIRPORT PROPERTY DAMAGE. THE CAUSE OF THE INCIDENT WAS DIRECTLY ATTRIBUTED TO BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE WITH THE LOSS OF LEFT BRAKE PRESSURE DURING LANDING. IN HIS ATTEMPT TO SLOW THE AIRCRAFT, THE PILOT APPLIES ADDITIONAL PRESSURE TO THE FULLY FUNCTIOANL RIGHT BRAKE, SUBSEQUENTLY SLEWING THE AIRCRAFT 90 DEGREES TO THE RIGHT AND OFF THE AIRPORT RUNWAY. EXTENT OF DAMAGE WAS ONE(1) BENT PROPELLER, AND SEVERAL SMALL TEARS TO RIGHT WING UNDER SURFACE DUE TO CONTACT WITH AIRPORTS PERIMETER BARBED WIRE FENCE AND METAL POST.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
