## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-5)ON THURSDAY, AUGUST 13, 1998, AT APPROXIMATELY 2131 LOCAL, A CONTINENTAL EXPRESS B-737, N14233, FLIGHT 1160, ENROUTE FROM TORONTO, EXPERIENCED AN ILLUMINATION OF #2 ENGINE OIL FILTER BYPASS LIGHT. THE FLIGHT CREW PROCEEDED TO ACCOMPLISH THE CHECKLIST AND THE LIGHT REMAINED ON. THE ENGINE WAS SHUT OFF AND THE AIRCRAFT LANDED AT BUFFALO AIRPORT WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. CONTRACT MAINTENACE WAS SUMMONED AND THE ENGINE OIL SCREEN WAS REMOVED AND CLEANED, PER MAINTENANCE CONTROL. THE OIL SCREEN WAS CLEAN OF DEBRIS WHEN REMOVED. THE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH WAS THEN REPLACED AND THE SYSTEM OPS AND LEAK CHECK WAS OKAY. THE AIRCRAFT WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE. THIS INCIDENT IS CONSIDERED CLOSED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
