## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) A PARACHUTE JUMPER RECEIVED FATAL INJURIES ON AUGUST 15, 1998, AT APPROXIMATELY 1230 CDT. THE JUMPER EXPERIENCED A MALFUNCTION OF THE MAIN PARACHUTE WHICH DID NOT DEPLOYE DUE TO THE PILOT CHUTE LINE WRAPPING AROUND THE MAIN CHUTE SHROUD LINES. THE JUMPER PERFORMED A CUTAWAY OF THE MAIN CHUTE AND DEPLOYED THE RESERVE CHUTE. THE RESERVE CHUTE DID NOT HAVE SUFFICIENT ALTITUDE TO FULLY OPEN PRIOR TO IMPACT WITH THE GROUND. THIS INCIDENT IS CLOSED WITH THIS REPORT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
