## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING A LOCAL FLIGHT FROM REID-HILL VIEW AIRPORT, EXTRA N540DT LOST POWER AT CRUISE ALTITUDE. THE PILOT LANDED THE AIRCRAFT IN A FIELD 12.8 NAUTICAL MILES ON THE SJC 068 DEGREE RADIAL. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE TO THE LANDING GEAR, PROPELLER AND HORIZONTAL STABILIZER. SUBSEQUENT INSPECTION OF THE ENGINE REVEALED THAT THE THROTTLE CABLE FAILED DURING FLIGHT, CAUSING THE ENGINE TO FAIL.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
