## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ACFT WAS ATTEMPTING TO LAND WHEN IT OVER SHOT THE RWY AND LANDED IN THE WOODS. (-23) PILOT DECIDED TO GO AROUND BECAUSE OF A POOR LANDING, LOST CONTROL OF AIRCRAFT AND DESCENDED THROUGH THE TREES TO THE OTHER SIDE OF A BUSY ROAD WHERE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST AGAINST THE TREES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC98LA171](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC98LA171), Aug 23, 1998: Grumman American AA-1B (N9933L), Marston Mills, MA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper landing flare and his delayed go-around.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
