## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE PILOT WAS ATTEMPTING A TAKE OFF IN HIS AIRCRAFT WHEN IT FAILED TO REACH ROTATION SPEED. THE PILOT DECIDED TO ABORT THE TAKE OFF AND THERE WAS INSUFFICIENT RUNWAY EMAINING TO STOP. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE WHEN IT CAME TO REST IN A DITCH. NEITHER THE PILOT OR THE PASSENGER RECEIVED INJURIES. INVESTIGATION DISCLOSED THAT THE PILOT HAD DONE AN ADEQUATE PREFLIGHT INCLUDING WEIGHT AND BALANCE COMPUTATIONS, LANDING AND TAKE OFF DISTANCES REQUIRED FOR THE EXISTING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND CONSIDERATIONS OF THE RUNWAY LENGTH TO BE USED THAT DAY. ALL COMPUTATIONS WERE VERIFIED. THE INCIDENT IS CONSIDERED CLOSED WITH THIS REPORT. EIR #98CE010082 CLOSED NO ACTION. INCIDENT #ICE01980024.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
