## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-5) MR. NERESON, AFTER A 1/2 HOUR CHECKOUT, DEPARTED SPRINGDALE, AR, DURING THE LATE AFTERNOON, WITH AN INTENDED LANDING AT THE LAKE ELMO, MN AIRPORT. HE THOUGHT HE HAD AN ENGINE PROBLEM AND MADE AN EMERGENCY LANDING IN THE DARK IN A GRAVEL PIT 3 MILES FROM HIS DESTINATION. THE PILOT RECEIVED A WEATHER BRIEFING BUT DID NOT FILE A VFR FLIGHT PLAN. PILOT HAD A "NO NIGHT FLIGHT" RESTRICTION ON HIS LICENSE. FURTHER INVESTIGATION FOUND 2 1/2 GALLONS OF FUEL REMAINING IN FUEL TANKS.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
