## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-5) ON SEPTEMBER 2, 1998, MR. EARL I. COVEL OPERATED CESSNA 150, N23471, AS PILOT IN COMMAND ON A FLIGHT FROM MENA INTERMOUNTAIN AIRPORT AT MENA, ARKANSAS, TO COLUMBIA REGIONAL AIRPORT, COLUMBIA, MISSOURI. AT APPROXIMATELY 1345 CDT, MR. COVEL EXHAUSTED THE AIRCRAFT FUEL SUPPLY AND PERFORMED AN EMERGENCY LANDING ON A FIELD LESS THAN ONE MILE SOUTHWEST OF THE COLUMBIA AIRPORT. THERE WERE NO INJURIES OR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT. AN INVESTIGATION CONCLUDED THAT THERE WAS INSUFFICENT EVIDENCE TO SUBSTANTIATE A VIOLATION OF THE FEDERAL AVIATION REGULATIONS (FAR) FOR FUEL EXHAUSTION. HOWEVER, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT MR. COVEL HAS NOT COMPLIED WITH THE FLIGHT REVIEW REQUIREMENTS, PRIOR TO ACTING AS PILOT IN COMMAND, SINCE MAY, 1997. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
