## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-5) ON SEPTEMBER 12, 1998, AT 11:45 MDT, A CESSNA CE-188, N4927R, REGISTERED TO AND FLOWN BY KEITH WILLIAM STAKES ON A 14 CFR PART 91 FLIGHT, WAS INVOLVED IN AN INCIDENT AT THE GALLUP MUNICIPAL AIRPORT IN GALLUP, NM. AIRMAN STAKES LANDED DURING THE GALLUP AIRSHOW, FOR WHICH THE AIRPORT WAS NOTAM'D CLOSED. NO FLIGHT PLAN WAS FILED, VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED, AND WEATHER DID NOT SEEM TO BE A FACTOR. IN A PERSONAL INTERVIEW WITH FAA INSPECTOR LARRY E. SMALLEY, MR. STAKES INDICATED THAT HE HAD DEPARTED SANTA ROSA, NM, AND THAT HIS DESTINATION WAS WEST OF GALLUP, THAT HE HAD PLANNED TO FLY TWO HOURS THEN STOP FOR FUEL. MR. STAKES ADVISED THAT HE HAD NOT CHECKED NOTAMS. THERE WERE NO INJURIES OR DAMAGE TO AIRCRAFT, AND THE AIR SHOW WAS NOT INTERRUPTED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
