## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

BEFORE DEPARTING NEW HAMPTON MUNICIPAL AIRPORT, NEW HAMPTON, IOWA, THE PILOT USED THE FUEL GAGES TO ESTIMATE FUEL IN TANKS. LESS THAN THREE MILES FROM THE DESTINATION, CEDAR RAPIDS MUNICIPAL AIRPORT, CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA, THE PILOT RAN OUT OF FUEL AND DID AN EMERGENCY LANDING IN A HAY FIELD. NO INJURIES TO PILOT OR PASSENGER, NO DAMAGE TO AIRCRAFT. PILOT HAD SIGNATURE FLIGHT SUPPORT FROM CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA, PUT FIVE GALLONS OF FUEL IN AIRCRAFT AND THEN FLEW TO CEDAR RAPIDS TO FUEL. THE PASSENGER RODE TO THE AIRPORT WITH THE FUELER.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
