## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-5)ON PRE-LANDING CHECKS ON ARRIVAL TO IAD, WE NOTICED THAT THE LEFT HYDRAULIC PUMP HAD FAILED; ALL THE OTHER GAUGES READ NORMAL. RIGHT PUMP WAS WORKING, MAIN AND EMERGENCY PRESSURE WAS NORMAL 2000 PSI. AS WE ATTEMPTED TO PUT THE GEAR DOWN FOR LANDING, THE HYDRAULIC PRESSURE DROPPED OFF AND WE ONLY GOT THE NOSE GEAR GREEN LIGHT AND THE MAIN UNLOCKED LIGHTS READ. AT THIS TIME, WE EXECUTED A MISSED APPROACH AND DECLARED AN EMERGENCY WITH IAD TOWER. WHILE ON THE MISSED APPROACH VECTOR, THE RIGHT HYDRAULIC PUMP BROUGHT PRESSURE UP ENOUGH FOR GEAR TO LOCK DOWN AND SHOW THREE GREEN LIGHTS. WE NOTIFIED APPROACH CONTROL WE HAD GEAR DOWN AND WOULD LIKE TO RETURN FOR LANDING. PROCEEDED TO RWY 12 RT. IAD FOR PRECAUTIONARY LANDING.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
