## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-5) ON SEPTEMBER 23, 1998 AT 1922 PDT, MICHAEL D. FOUNTAINE WAS THE PILOT IN COMMAND OF MOONEY M20F, N294KS WHILE PRACTICING TOUCH AND GO LANDINGS AT MODESTO CITY COUNTY AIRPORT LANDED ON RUNWAY 28R WITH THE LANDING GEAR IN THE RETRACTED POSITION. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE TO THE PROPELLER AND ENGINE AND NO INJURY WAS REPORTED BY THE SOLE OCCUPANT, MR. FOUNTAINE. VFR FLIGHT CONDITIONS PREVAILED AT THE TIME AND THE WEATHER WAS NOT A FACTOR. MR. FOUNTAINE STATED THAT HE JUST FORGOT TO PUT IT DOWN AND DID NOT HEAR THE WARNING HORN, YET IT FUNCTIONED NORMALLY AFTER THE ACCIDENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
